Our Story

How It All Started

In 2021, Sarai had just started attending 23 Church and went to the second service. David, on the other hand, had already been attending for a while and served on the sound team during the first service. Since they attended different services, their paths never crossed. It wasn’t until the fall, when Sarai helped with the youth group one Sunday afternoon and David was the youth pastor at the time, that they finally met.

Fun fact: Before they ever met, Sarai’s cousin, who happened to be David’s barber, once asked David if he’d seen Sarai at church. Little did they know, he was already trying to bring them together!

As they continued serving with the youth group, David and Sarai started seeing more of each other each week. Before long, they found themselves looking forward to Sundays a little more, not just because of youth group, but because they knew they would get to see each other.

Eventually, David asked Sarai out on a date and after about two months, they decided to officially become boyfriend and girlfriend!

Over the years, their relationship continued to grow, not only as a couple, but also in their relationship with God. Then, in May 2026, during a family trip to Alabama, David asked Sarai, “What do you think of building a family together?”

Today, they are so grateful for the journey that brought them here & for the faith that has been at the center of their relationship. And now, they're excited to begin their next chapter together.
